Isaiah 41:10 Mossy Oak hat
On December 13, 2017 one of the men that mean more to me that life itself lost his extremely hard fought battle to cancer.
That part above was as far as I was able to get for over a month. Every time I started to write it, it was “real” all over again. How do you face losing someone that meant so much? And losing someone you thought would be here forever. Death isn’t real until you lose someone so close to you that you literally feel your heart breaking.
My Papaw was a war veteran. And not just any ol’ veteran; he was one of the most PROUD veterans I’ve ever seen. He loved and he loved hard. He was the kind of husband, father, brother, son, grandpa, and great grandpa people dreamed of having. He severed his community until his last days.
5 years ago they told him he only had months. But, those doctors didn’t know my Papaw. Cancer wasn’t going to beat him. He was going to go when he was ready.
The last week here on earth he was placed in Texarkana, TX Hospice Center (I say the location because I have never seen such wonderful caring people and I think they should be recognized). He was surrounded by all of his family every second of every day. He made us laugh even when he was feeling his worst. A scripture my mimi had my mom and I go down to the chapel on the very first day we were there and look up was one that will stick with me forever.
Isaiah 41:10 ||
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
It became what I said to myself over and over and prayed over and over.
He is a man that taught me most of what I know today. The man me and my youngest son are named after. So, this is for you Papaw.
Due to a portion of proceeds being donated and us trying to raise as much as we can for the foundation we are supporting DISCOUNTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THIS COLLECTION.
$5 (his favorite number) from every shirt and every hat sold will go to a different charity in his name. Some will be cancer associations and some will be for veterans. I will post the charity donations will go to each month.
